today i love... afterdrk

I love getting fashion inspiration from a wide variety of sources. Catwalk shows, shoots in magazines, store lookbooks, front row snaps and stylish celebrities all provide me with some lovely ideas on what to wear and how to wear it. But lately the place I've been getting most inspiration from is other blogs (which is part of the reason I wanted to start my own). They can be such a great source of style, especially if you find one with a supremely well-dressed perpetrator (and, ahem, you have, haven't you?) Anyway, you will know by now that I seem to be particularly impressed with Swedish girls' style, given that my three favourite fashion blogs are all written by beautiful Scandinavians (Columbine Smille, Style by Kling and Carolinesmode, FYI). But in the last few days I've discovered a fourth to add to that list, and, quelle surprise, she's not Swedish, but Dutch.

Afterdrk is the work of the very lovely Sabrina Meijer, who lives in Amsterdam. The main reason I love her blog, as with the other three, is that Sabrina has a brilliant sense of style, and frequently posts stunning pictures to show that off. My favourite looks include the Isabel Marant mesh top I'm currently loving paired with a little bomber jacket and black pointed courts (see it here); to-die-for Acne heels with luxe joggers and a cosy jumper (see it here); orange jeans with a grey tee and a little leather biker (see it here); and the perfect Isabel Marant Etoile jumper teamed with Acne Pistol boots (see it here). Anyway, I just wanted to share with you this latest fashionable discovery of mine, in the hope that you'll also find it inspiring on days when you need a little fashion pick-me-up (well, after checking this blog first, of course).

To continue in that theme, below I've selected a few high street picks that I think Sabrina would love, to help you channel her classic-with-a-twist style. Generally she sticks to timeless pieces - a blazer, skinny jeans, a silky jacket, a leather skirt - in simple block colours and has fun with her accessories - leopard shoes, bright lips, a neon bag or a jumble of bracelets - all the while adding in little hints of seasonal trends, such as that beautiful mesh top or chic flat-top shades. It's a failsafe fashion formula that we can all learn from, and you don't even need to go to Amsterdam to do so.

  1. well I think you did a great job! This really looks like Sabrina's style. I follow her blog for over a year now, and she has such an amazing style which everyone can wear her in the Netherlands.

    Keep up the good work!
