I love the way that accessories determine the mood of your entire outfit. You can be wearing the most nondescript dress in the world, no make-up and undone hair, but step into a pair of ridiculously beautiful shoes and you can still look amazing. Likewise, anyone can choose a pretty dress, but it's the choice of accessories that sorts the stylish wheat from the chaff. Take, for instance, Columbine Smille's New Year's Eve outfit. In the wrong hands a pink dress could look horribly sickly sweet and Barbie-esque, if paired with, for instance, matching silver earrings and necklace and Mary-Jane shoes (yuck). But Columbine chose to team it with sheer tights, no jewellery, simple black shoe boots and a transparent plastic clutch, thereby creating an understated, edgy look. And it was the plastic clutch that I loved the most for its ability to completely transform the girlie dress. So imagine my delight to happen upon this amazing perspex box clutch from Asos. I love the idea of merely carrying in it your phone, a brightly coloured purse and a lipstick, for all the world to see. And even if you don't quite have the skill of accessorising down pat, you can rest assured that carrying this little beauty will successfully transform any outfit - be it a simple top and jeans, or a tired old dress - into something fresh, stylish and, most importantly, individual.
