today i'm wearing...

& Other Stories white tee

3.1 Phillip Lim 31 hour bag Smoke

Topshop fringed leather jacket

Zara blue skinny jeans

Zara black mules

Digging out a few old favourites to try and shake up my wardrobe, including this somewhat frivolous fringed leather jacket. I still remember how excited I was to chance upon it in the Topshop sale a couple of years ago. It may be pretty impractical (nearly dipped my sleeves in some risotto today), but I love it.

today i love… beauty favourites

beauty favourites embryolisse molton brown korres

I had heard a lot of good things about this moisturiser and so far I'm impressed. I've only used it for a few days but it manages to be nourishing enough for my dry skin while leaving a matte finish - the perfect base for make-up. I'll report back when I've had time to test it out properly but I'm already a fan.

It may be pathetic to say that a make-up product has changed your life, but this really has. I'm seriously annoyed that I didn't discover it before now. I always hated how my eyeshadow creased after a few hours, but one swipe of this across lids means eye make-up does not budge. At all. Not one little bit. After 15 hours it looks exactly the same as when I applied it. Seriously: buy this now.

I was lucky enough to attend the rewardStyle/Molton Brown event the week before last to celebrate 30 years of the beauty brand's iconic Orange & Bergamot fragrance and was treated to a rather lovely goody bag, including this rich hand lotion and its matching hand wash, which now have pride of place in my bathroom. I just love the fresh citrus scent: perfect for summer.

Talking of fresh scents, my latest shower gel obsession is this crisp, woody fig from Korres: the perfect amount sophisticated and comforting, but sharp and a little masculine too. It's also not too overpowering, so if you want a shower gel that won't interfere with your perfume then this is for you. I love the packaging as well.

This limited edition scent is a serious contender for my all-time favourite Diptyque fragrance (in close competition with Baies). It's fresh, floral and beautiful. Oh, and did I mention it's pink, too? In love.

If you're after a good value hair oil to tame frizz and leave ends silky smooth, I recommend this one by Dove. I'm not a huge fan of the scent (somewhat mumsy), but it really does the job and a little goes a long way. For a more sophisticated-smelling alternative (though not as good value for money), try Lee Stafford Argan oil.

today i'm wearing...

Whistles quilted leather jacket

Topshop navy jumper

Ray-Ban black Wayfarers

3.1 Phillip Lim 31 hour bag Smoke

Topshop lace-up heels

Definitely feeling in something of a style rut at the moment, so sorry if it seems like I'm wearing the same thing all the time (that's how it feels to me anyway!) I guess it happens to us all… But I'm making an effort to buy less, buy better, i.e. save up for truly special items rather than splashing out on fast fashion all the time (hence this list…) In the meantime I think I need to go through my wardrobe and think of new ways to wear things. So far all I've come up with is putting this mesh top under everything, but I do love it.

today i want… whistles white dungaree dress

whistles white dungaree dress

So, dungarees… How do we feel about this then? I have to confess I haven't entirely made up my mind. There was a time not so long ago when I was convinced only Alexa Chung could pull them off. Plus I really hate that teenager at a festival look of denim dungarees over a cropped top. So the key to mastering this trend is sophistication. Happily that is exactly what Whistles excels at. I've come to realise that one of the reasons I love this brand so much is that I trust them to make any trend - no matter how initially suspicious - from mules to pool slides, rucksacks to cropped tops - look grown-up and, though I dislike the word, chic. I know that whatever I'm wearing, however dubious the connotations, if it's from Whistles, it's going to look good. That's undoubtedly why an item which on paper sounds at best challenging and at worst hideous - white mixed fabric dungaree dress - and retails for nearly £300, is selling out fast. You've got to hand it to Jane Shepherdson: she really knows what she's doing.

Zara white skinny jeans

Whistles Lennox biker jacket

Happy Easter! Topshop were giving away this lipstick as a thank you for their 2 million Instagram followers the other week, so I thought I'd try it out last night. Love the bright neon pink: the perfect shot of colour in my otherwise monochrome wardrobe.

today i'm wearing...

3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli burgundy

Whistles Epaulette white shirt

Zara black mules

Not the best pictures in the world I'm afraid, but wanted to show you this Whistles shirt I snapped up in the sales. Kind of encompasses what I want from my clothes: ultimately classic and wearable, but with a little point of difference. Took it out to the rewardStyle Molton Brown event last night to celebrate 30 years of the brand's bestselling Orange & Bergamot scent. Lovely cocktails, tapas and hand massages = the perfect way to spend a Wednesday evening.

today i want… whistles limited agnete pink bag

whistles agnete pink camera bag

Still kind of obsessed with pink and not 100% sure why. This salmon pink camera bag - beautifully square, understated and with a satisfyingly chunky shoulder strap - moved straight to the top of my wish list as soon as it landed on Whistles' site. Time to spring clean my accessories wardrobe and make space for this little baby.

today i'm wearing...

H&M grey cashmere jumper

& Other Stories black crossbody bag

Zara black mules

Zara white skinny jeans

Ray-Ban black Wayfarers

It's getting to that time of year when the knitwear will have to be retired very soon, so I'm making the most of this cashmere jumper while I still can. At just £40 it's proved one of my best bargains of recent months, although I have to say I'm very much looking forward to no-sweater weather...

today i love… 3 ways to wear culottes

day /

Reiss 1971 Pisces quilted sweatshirt / £45 (reduced from £69)
Kenzo round-frame acetate sunglasses / £185

night /

work /

I posted last week about my newfound appreciation for an item of clothing previously confined to fashion's no man's land: culottes. There's something about the way they sit on the line between masculine and feminine that really appeals to me. But styling an item hitherto banished from your wardrobe isn't always an easy task. So above I've presented three ways to tackle this dilemma. For daytime, I'd play down the potential girliness of culottes with a simple sweatshirt, pool slides and a slick leather rucksack (really need this one in my life). For night, do the opposite and add satin heels and bright pink lips to bring out the femininity (but a ponyskin top keeps things suitably grounded). Work is a little trickier, but COS' structured minimalist top in powder blue ensures the culottes look grown-up and groomed, as do patent navy pumps and a very smart work bag. In short? They're as versatile as their hybrid nature would suggest.

today i'm wearing...

Mulberry Alexa black

Zara black beige silky bomber

Zara black mules

Michael Michael Kors black leather leggings

And Other Stories black t-shirt

Thought it was high time I dug out last summer's favourite bomber jacket again. Kind of still can't get over how much I love that it's reversible. Today I went for the non-embroidered side so as not to overdo it with the pearl earrings.

today i love… the monday wish list

Whistles Esther coat Zara lilac top Dogeared gold knot

Lilac isn't a colour that I'd consider very "me". But it's spring, and in the same way as I've done a U-turn in my thoughts about pink, so I'm looking at other pastels in a whole new light. The belt detail adds a little interest, too, although it still needs a good helping of leather if you ask me.

It doesn't take much to make me lust after an asymmetric skirt, but the fact that this one has "scuba" in the title is all I needed to know. Oh, and the laser cut detail, too. What more could you want?

It's that tricky time of year when you can't quite decide whether to wear a jacket or a coat. Well, I present the perfect hybrid courtesy of Whistles. There's something about white outerwear that I can't get enough of right now.

4. Dogeared Make a Wish love knot ring / £36 exclusive to ASOS
I've been looking for a ring exactly like this for quite some time. Can't explain why I love the knot design so much, but this is on its way to me already. Perfect.

I love a multi-purpose product which you can just stick in your handbag for touch-ups on the go, and this is perfect for smudging on lips and cheeks when you're in a rush. Plus I'm always a huge fan of a bright orangey-red like this one.

We all know COS is the number one purveyor of perfect minimalism on the high street. This beautifully simple bag has echoes of the Céline about it for under £80. If you're looking for a new day bag to take you to any occasion, you may just have found it.
