If, like me, you check Topshop's website every day (first thing I do when I wake up after having my cup of tea), then you can't have failed to notice that it's launching its biggest ever designer collaboration this Friday 14th September. JW Anderson is among London Fashion Week's biggest rising stars; his signature paisley print was one of the defining motifs of last season and adorned the wardrobes of editors and celebrities like Alexa Chung alike. His clothes are the perfect blend of edgy and wearable, which is pretty much the holy grail for a young designer. I was already a fan, but having seen his Topshop collaboration, I'm now even more impressed. It's absolutely one of the strongest designer collections the high street brand has ever produced, and there are three main reasons for this. 1) The clothes are really very good. Wearable, desirable, beautiful; recognisable as Anderson, but also incredibly easy to integrate into your wardrobe. 2) It's a huge collection (100+ items I believe) spanning not just a handful of dresses as with most designer collaborations, but everything from tops and trousers, coats and jackets, jumpers and loafers through to umbrellas, pens, notebooks, iPad cases and even sweets. Now that is what you call spoilt for choice (check out the full range here). 3) Most importantly of all - it is genuinely affordable. I loved Mary Katrantzou's capsule line but it was really not in my price range. Anderson's, on the other hand, is only a smidgen above Topshop's normal pricing. So above I've chosen my favourite pieces, and mark my words, it will be a miracle if I buy fewer than all of them.
