today i'm inspired by... whistles a/w'11 lookbook

As the January sales tail off, a slow trickle of alarmingly spring-like items is beginning to arrive in stores: pastel colours, pale denim, florals and even, shock horror, the odd bikini. But personally as I spend my days shivering in my freezing cold office, I'm not feeling much like spring yet. The trends of A/W'11 haven't yet met their demise in my eyes: I'm still partial to a dark lip, a chunky knit and a slick tailored suit. So while today's inspiration may technically be a little behind the times, I make no apologies for that. I'm a big fan of Whistles as a brand (after all, Jane Shepherdson can do no wrong) and while the slightly-too-high prices mean I hardly ever actually buy anything from there, I still do love to browse. I could certainly convince myself to purchase a few items from the shots below (some of which are now on sale): I just love the drama of the model's pale skin and blood-red lips pitted against the plain, urban backdrop. In fact if money were no object I'd be in possession of the fourth look already (so very CĂ©line, no?)
